The Funeral March of the Marionettes Return with a New Direction

March 13th 2022
 – Post-Punk/Goth Rock group, The Funeral March of the Marionettes, bring us “Slow (Trapped in this moment)”, the first single from their highly anticipated forthcoming E.P., Persephone.

The single will be available for download March 13 on Bandcamp and all other major streaming platforms. Vocalist, Joe Whiteaker, said of the track, “Slow is a departure from our previous releases, not just in format, but in theme as well. While previous songs dealt with visions of bad choices influenced by real world events, Slow is a more personal theme of haunted moments that are preserved in time like amber. That even after we grow old and other memories start to fade, these stories remain to taunt us with loves lost and words we should have said.”

About The Funeral March of the Marionettes
The Funeral March of the Marionettes is a band known for their dark image and gloomy sound formed in 1987 in the post-industrial city of Rockford, Illinois. Their work has blended elements of gothic rock and post-punk music, combining a number of influences (The Cure, Bauhaus, Joy Division, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and others) to create a very dark but passionate sound, appealing to many. The band’s current lineup consists of Joseph Whiteaker (Vocals, Bass, Synths), Mark Tenin (Drums, Percussion), and Wayne Thiele (Guitar). The band took its name from the  Charles Gounod composition of the same name best known as the theme music for the television program Alfred Hitchcock Presents. Slow (trapped in this moment) is their 7th release since 2017 and serves as the lead single from their forthcoming E.P. to be released later this summer.
