For those who may not want to dive right into the genre, The Funeral March is a band that can be characterized as an old Gothic / Darkwave Band.
Bringing together aspects of Darkwave and electronics wives with undeniably heavy guitar riffs and screaming vocals. With their sixth release “Flood,” the band continues to evolve their sound while exploring their influences old and new.
Although Joe Whiteaker’s narration about the process of making Flood is mostly kept secret, he did mention in an interview that “The initial concept/demo for Flood occurred in the same sessions as Useless.” He also mentioned wanting to take a look at where they had gone after the release of Useless.
For him, there are few things better than a b-side. When he first heard the song “The Promise” by The Cure, he was blown away because it was so much more than just one good song. There were about five songs in total on t
he single, and when he realized how much material was on the track, he started thinking about how to do this release.
