Neu Sierra’s first EP, “Sulphur and Molasses,” has been a long time coming.
She has been playing music since she was very young.
Jazz standards are often passed down in the form of a song, but they have much more depth than just their melody. “Spring Can Hang You Up The Most” is an example of this. Not only does the title refer to a drink made up in one’s kitchen, but also to the season itself. The lyrics imply that when spring finally arrives, one should be excited about it because it will provide relief from winter.
Upon the EP’s release music magazine GAFFA awarded it with ★★★★★ and wrote “She is a
a competent and extremely skilled musician with great international potential – this is only further
established with Sulphur and Molasses”.
