The band, Guitar Gangsters, rose to the surface of the tidal wave of post punk guitar bands appearing on the seminal “Underground Rockers” album.

This compilation, along with those of The Crack & Manic Street Preachers, had huge influence on the young bands who took the UK scene by storm around this time. The band recorded their first album in 1988 in London’s famous Stiffened Studios. In their own words, the band was influenced by the punk scene of the 1980’s, especially the first wave of british post punk bands including The Boys, Generation X, The Pistols, Ramones, The Saints and The Clash. The band have consistently had a professional band attitude, appearing as a touring live act since their beginnings in the early 1990’s. In London’s famous Camden Town in 1994, the band played their biggest gig to date; their debut UK number one single, “What Do You Want, Daddy?”. Guitar Gangsters toured extensively with Stiff Little Fingers.
