It may be hard to imagine, but there was a time on this planet when Slayer had never existed. Perish the thought, I know… but pre-1981, the masses had never heard the hellaciously explosive thrash metal that resulted when you put Tom Araya, Kerry King, Jeff Hanneman, and Dave Lombardo in a room together.
Now, four decades after the release of Slayer’s debut album Show No Mercy on December 3, 1983, Metal Blade Records is commemorating the paradigm shifting release with a special anniversary vinyl release. With multiple versions available, including a “blood-filled” vinyl limited to 250 copies worldwide, this is sure to be an item no Slayer fan should be without.
When it releases on February 16, 2024, the anniversary edition of Show No Mercy will come in two variants: a “normal” 40th anniversary edition and the aforementioned “blood-filled” liquid vinyl. The first version comes with a special gold hot-foil embossed slipcase, a gold black dust LP that was mastered from the original masters, a 12″ LP booklet, slipmat, a poster, show flyers, and a signing card. Conversely, the hyper-limited “blood-filled” version is just that — super limited.
Relive the early days of thrash with this special release by preordering your copy today.
