Watch Pantera Practice “War Nerve” Ahead of Summer Tours

As the summer draws near and Pantera’s separate tours with first Lamb of God and then Metallica inch closer, it’s only time that the hype machine gets wound up again. Last night, Anthrax drummer and fill-in for the late Vinnie Paul, Charlie Benante, posted a video on Instagram of himself and the rest of Pantera in 2023 (Phil Anselmo, Rex Brown, and Zakk Wylde) rehearsing.
In the clip Benante shared, you can hear the band going over “War Nerve” from the band’s 1996 absolute banger of an album The Great Southern Trendkill. As Metal Injection points out, the band hasn’t played this particular song live just yet, so that’s an exciting little sneak peek at part of the setlist.
As expected with pretty much everyone in the band, the performance sounds musically tight as hell. That’s the benefit of having an insanely good drummer in Benante, a solid rhythm player like Brown, and a highly respected guitarist in Zakk Wylde. Even Phil, whose voice has been on and off over the years, sounds pretty damn solid in the clip.
This summer’s going to feature a lot of the reunion/tribute/whatever you wanna call this version of Pantera out on the road. You can check out the full list of dates below, and get your tickets while you’re at it.
