This System of a Down Version of The B-52s’ “Rock Lobster” is Equal Parts Cursed and Great

Some days, the internet proves itself to be one of the biggest mistakes of man. I should know — I read your comments. I see what you dirty little gremlins are up to on here. You disgust me.
Still, there are other moments where someone so creative, so funny, and so talented comes along and creates something that you never knew you needed. Case and point: TikTok user macglocky, whose music cover mashups have dominated my nightmares in recent weeks. We’re talking things like Panic! At The Disco doing Korn‘s “Freak on a Leash” and Deftones doing Rick Astley‘s “Never Gonna Give You Up.”
It’s fucking wild.
But a couple days ago, I think they hit the mother lode when someone suggested that he put together a rendition of The B-52s‘ classic hit “Rock Lobster” in the style of System of a Down. Now, I know what you’re probably thinking — there’s no way that shit will work. But ho-ly shit, does this guy fucking nail it.
For fans of both bands, this is a match made in heaven. If you’re familiar with System of a Down’s sound, this version of “Rock Lobster” sounds like peak Steal This Album-era SOAD, so that should give you an idea of what it sounds like before even pressing play.
This isn’t even the first cover done in the style of System of a Down. A quick glance on his page will reveal he’s also taken The Killers‘ massive hit “Mr. Brightside” and twisted it up in System’s style.
Honestly, it may be “cursed,” but I’m here for the crazy ass mashups, Mac Glocky. Keep that shit up.
