Post Malone’s Cover of “Them Bones” Proves He Could Do This Rock Sh*t

Earlier this week, rapper Post Malone once again showcased his love of rock music while on the Howard Stern Show by performing an Alice in Chains cover. And while he could absolutely have strapped on an electric guitar and turned up the volume with his band, he chose to take the MTV Unplugged route.
Flanked on one side by a choir to help add some depth to the vocal harmonies in the song, this version of “Them Bones” carries a different weight than the original. And while it wasn’t featured in the 1996 MTV Unplugged performance by the actual band, this version definitely feels like it would have fit right in at Brooklyn’s Majestic Theater.
Honestly, the fact that Post Malone is out here doing rock covers when he’s a major rap artist is nothing new. The dude loves rock and metal; he’s mixed it up with Ozzy Osbourne, was cool with the dudes in Power Trip, and his pre-fame metalcore band Ashley’s Arrival prove all that.
Hell, during the pandemic while we were all locked away trying to stay safe, Posty went and streamed a charity concert to help raise money for the World Health Organization where he played more than an hour of Nirvana songs. It was fucking awesome.
So yeah, it’s great to see such a huge artist give props to metal, grunge, rock, whatever. It opens up the door for other people to find an appreciation for our little corner of the music world, which is always a good thing.
