We knew it was coming, and the wait is now partially over, because Kittie have at least begun teasing some of the new music they’ve been promising for a while now.
Well, technically they did tease a new song in 2023 at the Sick New World. Since then, they’ve been holed up in the studio with producer Nick Roaskulinecz working on new music, and we can finally hear it. They posted a teaser on socials media which you can stream below.
Of course, this is just a small sampling of that record, so what will the rest sound like? In a recent interview with Knotfest’s She’s With The Band, guitarist and vocalist Morgan Lander gave a few hints. It will still be Kittie, but it won’t just be a nostalgic tug on that criss-crossed, studded straps of your JNCO jeans.
“I think marrying some of the ideas ’cause I don’t think we’re ever going to put our JNCOs (jeans) on again,” she says. “But, yeah, the idea of marrying some of those ideas—like who we are now with the ideas of who maybe we used to be and kind of being able to meet somewhere in the middle, but in a way that will just create something brand new again. I’m excited for it to be unleashed upon the world.”
Drummer Mercedes Lander says:
“I’m gonna say that we are just really stoked to write 1,200 percent bangers. I think that’s just where we’re at now. We want people to feel good. We want people to feel what we’re feeling. I feel like bangers; that’s what we’re good at.”
The upcoming album from Kittie will be the first to drop since I’ve Failed You in 2011. Needless to say, there are some high expectations to meet, but if the hints we have so far are any indication, we won’t be disappointed.
