Kill Your Christmas Spirit with This Cursed Mariah Carey Cover feat. Tim ‘Ripper’ Owens, Dave Ellefson, and Bumblefoot

Halloween was just a couple days ago and we’ve still got a few weeks until Thanksgiving, but fuck it. Why don’t we just take the holiday spirit out back and put a bullet in it with possibly one of the worst covers of an already infuriatingly ubiquitous Christmas song?

At least, that’s what I imagine the mission statement was when ex-Judas Priest vocalist Tim ‘Ripper’ Owens, ex-Megadeth bassist Dave Ellefson, and ex-Guns n’ Roses guitarist Ron ‘Bumblefoot’ Thal got in the studio to record their absolutely cursed cover of Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You.”

Now, I don’t want you guys to think that I’m just dunking on this track for the sake of being a pessimistic fuck. There’s plenty of other things I could waste my time doing than being a joyless prick. But seriously — take a listen to the track yourself down below and tell me it’s not bad. I’ll wait.

The song was put together for a compilation of metal Christmas covers titled A Very Metal Christmas. That collection of covers, along with A Very Metal Christmas II, feature some major names in the rock and metal scene, including Rainbow’s Graham Bonnet, Megadeth’s Chris Poland, King’s X’s Ty Tabor, Ratt’s Stephen Pearcy, Bulletboys’ Marq Torien, UFO’s Vinnie Moore, King Kobra’s Paul Shortino, Deep Purple’s Glenn Hughes, George Lynch, Marty Friedman, Great White’s Jack Russell, Vixen’s Janet Gardner, Angel’s Frank DiMino, and a bunch of other artists.

Hopefully the rest of the songs on these two compilations are better than the train wreck that’s shared at the bottom of this post. This one’s a big miss and actually kinda makes me want to listen to the original version, which kind of feels entirely antithetical to a metal version being made.

Anyways, if you liked this and you want to find out more, you can order your copy of either A Very Metal Christmas or A Very Metal Christmas II today.
