Exocrine’s “Eidolon” Clip is Pretty Much a Dio Music Video with AK-47s Instead of Swords

Earlier today, Franch tech death metal outfit Exocrine released a music video for their latest single “Eidolon,” which you can check out below. It’s heavy, it’s brutal, it’s part of their upcoming album Legend. But watch the video below and then watch the video for Dio‘s classic tune “Holy Diver.” Tell me they’re not similar… at least in tone, if nothing else.
Let’s compare them — lone warrior storms a castle-like structure and lays waste to his foes. That’s pretty much it. Only Dio used a broadsword and our nameless protagonist uses firearms like an AK-47 to slay the armor-wearing foes.
All kidding aside, the song really is heady as fuck and brutal. And I get what they’re trying to do here, as the song’s rapid-fire rhythms are akin to machine gun fire. Natch.
Lead guitarist Sylvain Octor Perez said the song and music video was the band’s “latest masterpiece” that willfully meshes “melodic intricacies with brutal force.”
“It’s a sneak peek into our upcoming album — a perfect marriage of technical prowess and breakneck speed. Exocrine is unleashing a sonic storm that will leave you craving more. Stay tuned for the imminent release of our album, a true embodiment of technical excellence and speed. Get ready to be blown away!”
Eidolon’s Legend will release on January 26 via Seasons of Mist. You can preorder or pre-save your copy today.
