Love finds a way
Drowns me in the waves
I remember you all too much
Some relationships may not withstand time’s trials, yet their enduring impact molds our identities and perceptions of love. Forever, by Canadian darkwave duo ANI, celebrates the fleeting beauty of such connections, recognizing the profound significance of a love that blazes brightly, if only for a season.
ANI, comprised of Ana Klah (Prince Bunny) and Philip Traikovski (Visitor), effortlessly melds haunting melodies and pulsating rhythms with nostalgic undertones. Theirs is a forward-thinking approach, defying categorization. The band’s name, drawn from the Hebrew word for “I,” underscores their dedication to delving into the intricate nuances of human emotion through their music.
“Forever is about that summer romance that stays with you forever but was never meant to last,” the band reflects.
Forever encapsulates the bittersweet essence of a fleeting yet impactful dalliance: two souls intertwining, finding solace and passion in the ephemeral warmth of the season, only to face the inevitable reality of parting ways. Klah’s ethereal vocals glide atop biting synth layers and hypnotic beats, bringing forth a bittersweet nostalgia for a gossamer dream, still sorely missed.
The DIY video poignantly visualizes these emotions, juxtaposing vibrant scenes of sunlit travel and laughter with stark portrayals of heartbreak. Every flashing memory encapsulates carefree moments where time stretched infinitely, and every touch sparked electricity. Yet, amid the joy, glimpses of pain and sorrow emerge. The contrast between summer’s vivid colours and heartache’s grayscale hues underscores love’s dual nature. Despite its inevitable conclusion, memories persist, etched into our very essence, forever imprinted upon the heart.
