Canada’s Tortured Saint Unleash “Anamnesis” Music Video

Canadian progressive deathcore band Tortured Saint are back with a new music video based on the song “Anamnesis” from their 2022 album Diemanthia.

Released as one of the tracks from last year’s follow up to the 2018 full-length Message to the Throne, “Anamnesis” focuses on the idea of loss and remembrance. Guitarist Tim Reaper explained that the song specifically deals with the extremely relatable “changes we face when dealing with loss.”

“It molds and shapes who we become. Often times we’re left feeling like a different person than we once were, with nothing but memories of our former selves. In the video, we tried to represent those lyrics with depictions of the pain and anguish of coming to terms with losing a loved one by highlighting the anger and sorrow someone faces and the recognition that they will never be the same person again.”

As such, the video directed by Michael Jari Davidson (Alice in Chains, Wake, Korrosive) focuses on a man dealing with the loss of loved ones in his life. We won’t go into too much more detail, but honestly, it’s extremely relatable.

Rather than let the opportunity pass by, Reaper said he’d always wanted to work with Davidson given his long-standing friendship with the director and was excited that it finally came to fruition.

“[Davidson] has been a friend of mine for over 20 years. I was a big fan of the band he fronted from my hometown when I was just a young lad. I found out years later he moved into the film industry and had seen his work and client list, and his love for horror films! I knew having someone who has been on both sides of the coin would help the creative process.

“We gave him full reigns to use his own interpretation based on the song title/lyrics for both videos. He really went above and beyond to capture the imagery of the song’s meaning. We couldn’t be happier with the result!”

Tortured Saint’s Diemanthia is out now and available to stream on all major platforms.
