Melbourne Darkwave Duo Full Fleshed Release Debut Single “Haus of Flesh”

Posted on 21/07/2023 By

Having recently established their presence in Melbourne’s vibrant live music milieu, Australian darkwave duo Full Fleshed has unveiled “Haus of Flesh,” their eagerly awaited debut single.

Anchored by Kris’s hypnotic vocals and lyricism, steeped in poetic irony, and supported by Tom’s pulsating drums and spectral synth lines, “Haus of Flesh” signifies an important landmark for Full Fleshed. It marks their commitment to guide listeners on an emotive journey into a universe where feelings roam untamed.

“Haus of Flesh” emerges as a haunting tribute to the fractured self—both in body and psyche—and the unending tremours of sorrow that permeate a life touched by grief. Conceived as a reaction to the tragic loss of lead vocalist Kris’s closest friend to sexual violence, the track assumes a dual identity: it is a fervent hymn of retribution as well as a release, a purging of the torment born out of such harrowing circumstances. Ethereal vocals materialize above an austere, spectral tapestry of futuristic synth pads, murmuring as if echoing from a realm beyond our own.

Full Fleshed deems their signature sound as ‘future darkwave,’ a forward-thinking twist on traditional darkwave that deconstructs customary drum patterns and places emphasis on the undercurrents of ambience. The band orchestrates a confluence of dark synthpop, and the moody aesthetics of 80s goth. They traverse the sombre valleys of loss, despair, and the resurgence of physical self-awareness following trauma, propelled by dancefloor-ready drum beats.  Their music serves as an expressive space where listeners can celebrate the multifaceted nature of their own emotions, from melancholy to liberation.

“Haus of Flesh is an ode to the everlasting physical aftershocks that pervade the existence of grief and loss through sexual violence,” says Kris. “The track is an  attempt to carry the emotional weight of existing in a sphere of hatred; to release the horrors so that we can collectively dance our pain away.”

“Haus of Flesh” is now available on all major streaming platforms, including Spotify, and Apple Music, and is also available to purchase via Bandcamp.
