Mayhem Unveil Live Album Daemonic Rites with a New Live Video for “Malum”

For the last four decades, Norwegian black metal icons Mayhem have been synonymous with the genre and some of the wildest legends enshrined within it. And while some of the details surrounding the band’s wild extracurriculars often get a good amount of the attention, it doesn’t fully detract from their ability to kick ass live.

To help further preserve their legacy in the genre and their capability as performing artists, the band is set to release a live album titled Daemonic Rites on September 15 via Century Media Records. Described as a “comprehensive look at the legendary band’s chaotic and intense performances from various cities around the world over the last two years,” this upcoming release should be on every Mayhem fan’s radar.

As always, the first taste is free so they’ve also dropped the live compilation’s 2002 performance of “Malum” in New York City. In the clip you can see below, you can see the kind of wild performance the band was putting on more than a decade ago.

With this release coming soon, Necrobutcher said it was a no-brainer for the band to put a live album out.

“We wanted to document how great the band and set sounds like after almost 40 years of playing live. As a treat to our fans, we decided to release this live recording.

“I knew from day one back in 1984 that this band was going to be outstanding—one of the best bands ever! I guess that’s a big reason why we still are here after 39 years—and counting.”

Daemonic Rites will be released on September 15 via Century Media Records, but you can preorder your copy today. You can also catch Mayhem live at any of the dates listed below.
