FKA twigs explores heartbreak on “killer”—listen

Posted on 17/06/2022 By

FKA twigs has shared her new single, “killer.” The song is FKA twigs’ first since her 2022 mixtape CAPRISONGS.

“killer” is deliciously echoey and slick. FKA twigs’ voice stands alongside dripping percussion and bright vocals synths. Each element feels as if they’d be complete and satisfying to the ear on their own, but together they are a treasure for the senses.

The song was written by FKA twigs, Jimmy Napes, Amanda Ghost and Jonny Coffer. The song was produced by FKA twigs, Coffer and El Guincho.

FKA twigs shared the inspiration behind “killer” in a press release.

“It’s dangerous to be a woman in love — when at its worst the effects of heartbreak can define one’s trajectory much more than the beauty of the love itself,” she says. “In my song ‘Killer,’ I explore this concept. The navigation, the hunt and the kill. The death of promises, dreams and the future that was once promised. But like the wildest plucked roses, I find myself more beautiful delicately wilted, in shadow, forced solace, darkened at the edges and achingly thirsting to be tended to again.”
