Corey Taylor Outlined More Details About CMF2, Announced a U.S. Tour, and Dropped the Album’s First Single “Beyond”

It’s been a minute since we heard anything even remotely close to what Corey Taylor’s thought about anything, but with today’s announcement that the new album will be released on September 15, along with a new tour, and the release of the album’s first single, you better brace yourself for more hot takes.

Earlier today, the Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman had the music video for the album’s single “Beyond” premiered over at Rolling Stone. The song, which he described as originally an “aggressive love song” that turned into more of a “come together” track, can be heard below.

“It’s not exactly a calling card, more like throwing the bat signal up and being ‘alright, let’s turn everything on its head.’ It’s almost a dual threat, because now I look at it from two standpoints.”

To that end, Taylor told Rolling Stone that the album, his first with BMG, was a direct follow up to his 2020 solo debut CMFT in more ways than just it being the second one. In his mind, the new album is more of a continuation of the concepts he put forward in that first record.

“My first solo album was kind of where I was coming from. This album is more where we’re going.”

On this record, Taylor not only sings, but plays lead and rhythm guitar, piano, and mandolin. Jay Ruston, who produced Stone Sour’s Hydrograd, as well as Taylor’s first solo album, helmed the production of CMF2. For a full track list, be sure to scroll past the video.

Taylor opted to also announce a U.S. tour that will run from late August until early October. Supporting his effort will be Wargasm, Oxymorrons, and Luna Aura. Tickets will be available to the masses this Friday, with pre-sales already starting today. We’ll also have the full list of dates below.
