Avatar Taps Lzzy Hale to Take a Stance on Iran’s Oppression of Women with “Violence No Matter What”

Months after revealing herself to be a Scumdog of the Universe, Halestorm vocalist Lzzy Hale has joined forces with Swedish alt-metal outfit Avatar to kick some ass on their latest single “Violence No Matter What” while also decrying human rights violations in Iran.

Through the newly released lyric video, Hale can be heard laying down some killer vocals along with imagery of the Iranian protests following the death of Mahsa Amini at the hands of religious police. Of particular note are Hale’s impressive screams during the chorus, which really showcase just how wild she can get behind the mic.

With today’s release of the song, which will be featured on Avatar’s next album Dance Devil Dance on February 17, Hale said she was happy to be part of a project aimed at calling out some of the world’s injustices.

“‘Violence No Matter What’ was such an inspiring piece to be a part of! Thank you so much to the boys for giving me the opportunity to express my angst against the horrors of this world through such a brilliant song!”

As for Avatar vocalist Johannes Eckerström, the song really stands out on the album as an explanation that it’s okay to disagree, but things have too frequently go beyond the pale.

“‘Violence No Matter What’ is about one thing and one thing only. It’s ok to debate and fight and to think differently. But there is a limit, and the line must be drawn at authority held with violence, a world view that cannot survive without enemies, a promised return to a fabricated former glory.”

Dance Devil Dance will be out on February 17, though you can preorder your copy today. If you’d like to catch Avatar live, they’re going to be heading out on tour with Veil of Maya and Orbit Culture from April 28 in Omaha, Nebraska to May 28 in Pittsburgh, PA.
