The Black Dahlia Murder Could Premiere New Music “Sooner Than You Think”

Ever since their return back in 2002, The Black Dahlia Murder has been busy playing shows and most recently, they’ve been working on a follow up to 2020’s Verminous. Though we haven’t heard a whole lot from the band about their new tunes, it seems like all that will change pretty soon.
In a social media post by guitarist Brandon Ellis, it sounds like we’ll all soon hear something from the band as it pertains to new music. More specifically, he said: “there will be new music out sooner than you think.” Color us fucking stoked, man. What better way to celebrate Memorial Day weekend than with a brand new TBDM song?! Make it happen!!!
Truth be told, the fact that they’ve been working on new music is nothing new. Last November, drummer Alan Cassidy revealed that the band was putting some new material together.
“Literally just finished drums for [The Black Dahlia Murder] ALBUM X (10) and number 5 for me and to say I’m exhausted is an understatement. So pumped for you all to hear it. Very proud of what we’ve written and it is some of my favorite stuff we’ve done so far. I wish Trev could hear it because I think he’d be just as proud and excited if not more so.
“Huge thank you to [Mark Lewis] for recording and housing us all for the last 2 weeks and working his ass off making sure that these drums sounded nothing short of amazing. Very much looking forward to this and everything else to come in 2024.”
Once released, it will be the first new music to feature ex-guitarist-turned-vocalist Brian Eschbach, who took over the role following the massively untimely death of the late/great Trevor Strnad. The new music would also be the first to feature guitarist Ryan Knight since 2015’s Abysmal.
In the meantime, the band’s got some European dates coming up next month, so if you’re going to be across the pond, maybe check to see if they’ll be playing a venue near you.
