Sh*tty Weather Forces Blue Ridge Rock Festival to Shut Down Early

Less than 24 hours after attendees were forced to either scramble under makeshift shelters or stand in the rain for hours waiting for transportation back to their campsites, continued shitty weather forced Blue Ridge Rock Festival organizers to pull the plug on the whole thing.

The following announcement came less than an hour ago via the event’s social media accounts:

Dear Blue Ridge Fans,

With heavy hearts, due to this weekend’s continued severe weather, we must announce the cancellation of the final days of Blue Ridge Rock Festival. Your safety and well-being are our foremost concerns.

We understand the disappointment this brings, and we share immensely in your sadness. Please know that this decision was made with the utmost consideration for everyone involved and our focus now is on supporting those of you still on-site.

We are working diligently to provide refund details and will share that information early this week when business re-opens. In the meantime, we encourage you to stay safe and take care of each other.

This has been an agonizing turn of events for what was to be such a special weekend. There will be more much that we unveil over the next few days. Rest assured, we will take care of you despite these difficult circumstances. Thank you for everything.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Blue Ridge Rock Festival

While some acts got to hit the stage before things were canceled for good, that’s cold comfort for the tens of thousands of people who traveled to Alton, Virginia to attend this weekend’s festivities. With the rest of today and tomorrow officially canceled, that affects some major acts including Megadeth, Pantera, Dethklok, Limp Bizkit, I Prevail, and Babymetal.

Unfortunately, the weather didn’t force attendees to scatter during Vince Neil’s set, further proving there’s no justice in the world.

All over social media, fans are pissed about the cancellation, especially given the situation they had to endure last night and the apparently poor logistical planning.

STOP GOING AND SUPPORTING BLUE RIDGE ROCK FESTIVAL. ITS FUCKING TRASH. https://t.co/sGTkGsGzLj

All in all, it looks like this festival turned out to be a shitshow, both in terms of how it was organized and how Mother Nature decided to piss all over everything. Here’s hoping things can get back on track in 2024 and that everyone gets home safe.
