Russian post-punk outfit Blind Seagull have returned with their video for “Stray”, a track off of their forthcoming new full-length album set for release via Avant! Records this summer.
The trio hails from Kaliningrad, a small Russian enclave on the Baltic Sea between Poland and Lithuania. Since their debut, the band has released tapes and limited edition vinyl on labels like Detriti, Sierpen, and Pine Hill.
Honing their distinct minimalist coldwave sound, their latest album Personal Decay is their longest full-length yet, with 12 tracks of modern post-punk and darkwave, that sound familiar, yet unlike any classic act, or their contemporary brethren, either in the East or the West.
Led by sonorous vocals of Denis Zarubin, the songs on the new album are concise and deliberate, featuring stomping drum machines, icy guitar arpeggios, and taut bass riffs, with an occasional smattering of laser synths, noise raids, and gothic chorale. There is even an IDM-tinged collaboration with experimental giants Xiu Xiu.
The album’s first single ‘Stray” is propelled forward by a pulsing synth melody with shuddering guitars and bass. It is danceable and affecting, and an excellent first taste of the album to come.

Personal Decay is out on June 24th, 2022 via Avant! Records.
