Ringworm’s Latest Single “Thought Crimes” Seeks to Destroy Your Echo Chambers

To say Ringworm’s upcoming release Seeing Through Fire is an anticipated album around these parts would be an understatement. After bursting back out onto the scene with their previous single “No Solace, No Quarter, No Mercy,” I know I’ve at least been waiting for the next shoe to drop and today, I’ve finally gotten my wish.

Earlier today, the Cleveland-based outfit released the album’s second single “Thought Crimes” and — as expected — it’s a ripper. If you’re a fan of loud and pissed off music, you’re definitely going to want to scroll down right now, turn up your volume as loud as it will go, and hit play. Oh and brace yourself.

Vocalist James “Human Furnace” Bulloch described the new song as “manic,” using its speed and aggression as direct examples for why you’ll be picking your teeth up in a moment.

“‘Thought Crimes.’ Speed. Aggression. Attack. All the things that come to mind, sonically, when I think of this song. It’s a manic song. It makes you move. Lyrically, it’s not a political song. It’s about trying to have your own thoughts amongst an ocean of controlled marketing, algorithms, and forced tribalism. It’s a natural emotional response to being sculpted, directed, and sometimes, ordered, to believe in one thing or the other.”

With its release being the band’s first through Nuclear Blast Records, Seeing Through Fire will feature 11 new tracks. As we heard the last time around, it’s apparently been hard for the band to pick singles out since Bulloch said the whole damn thing kicks so much ass.

“There’s A LOT of crushers on the new one, so it was hard to pick one as a single. But we finally settled on ‘No Solace, No Quarter, No Mercy’. It’s got hooks, beat downs, head bangs, thrash…. Overall a pretty good taste of what you’re gonna get from the new record and Ringworm in general. This one delves into the endless conflict that we never seem to be free from. The constant outward, internal, mental and physical assaults that shape our lives, test our endurance, push our limits and challenge our breaking points.”

Seeing Through Fire will release on August 18, via Nuclear Blast Records, though you can preorder your copy today. Pretty soon they’ll also be touring the east coast with Venom Inc. You can check out the full list of dates below.
