Mr. Bungle Played “My Ass Is On Fire” Last Night for the First Time Since 2000

For a band with such an eclectic back catalog like Mr. Bungle, it’s gotta be a nightmare to try to remember the songs you wrote back in the day, let alone perform them in front of a packed crowd of excited fans. Yet last night during their first show on the Ipecac Geek Show tour, the guys pulled out a special song for their encore, playing “My Ass Is On Fire” for the first time in roughly 23 years.

Featured on their 1991 self-titled album, “My Ass Is On Fire” is a wild ride from start to finish, like most of the band’s music from that time. Like any good song featuring Mike Patton on vocals, it shifts seamlessly between impassioned crooning and downright absurd screeches and screams as the band weaves its way from one section to the next. It’s an absolute wild ride and the folks that got to watch that encore live got to witness something special.

It’s unknown whether they’ll continue using this song as their encore number or if they’ll switch it up. I’d love to hear this iteration of the band tackle “Carousel,” “Squeeze Me Macaroni,” or hell — maybe some stuff off the California album.

For more information on the band’s ongoing tour, as well as their planned tour of the east cost this fall, be sure to scroll past the video below.
