Los Angeles Industrial Darkwave Outfit Night of the Hunter Unveil Video for “Safe Inside The Storm”

Posted on 19/08/2023 By

Emerging from the dimly lit corners of sound, the enigmatic collective, Night Of The Hunter, assembles. This orchestra of multi-instrumentalists weaves a tapestry of dark sonic adventures. Their core mission? To dismantle the mundane and replace it with a harmonious anarchy so entrancing, it blurs the line between reality and fantasy.

Their darkwave symphonies are a cocktail of industrial rawness and ambient electronica, wrapped in a juxtaposition of the organic and the otherworldly. Imagine synths in a state of elegant decay, the growls of contorted guitars, beats that lull the senses into a trance, or perhaps a wisp of dense, foreboding atmospheric resonance. There is a constant state of ominous restlessness – perhaps a nod to the classic 1950s Robert Mitchum thriller of the same name.

The darkness of the band’s 1 EP ominously permeates the atmosphere with the opening track, “Safe Inside The Storm,” featuring the ethereal Aradia. Here, the listener is lured into a dimension where lush synth beats pulse vibrantly, only to be swept away by ghostly echoes and otherworldly reverberations. The staccato beats play a tantalizing game with the senses, creating a harmonious dance of chaos and tranquility.

In a liminal world, silhouettes waltz at dusk’s edge. Every moment is a cryptic whisper wrapped in moonlit enigma, culminating in an uncanny denouement that sends shivers down the spine. A coven of enigmatic sirens, bound by ancient rituals and the arcane, unite under a crimson banquet. It’s a phantasmagoric tapestry weaving together tales of vengeful maidens, the unsettling charm of The Wicker Man, and the dread-filled abyss of the Temple of Doom.

In the dusky realm where these women tread, bloodlust simmers beneath every glance. Is the narrative about the wail of retribution, echoing tales as old as time? Or perhaps it’s a cautionary tale, an allegory for the hapless soul caught in the tempestuous dance between the coven and the moon’s inscrutable gaze. Might it be a primordial rite, a spilling of life essence to appease ancient gods for bounteous yields? The visuals, shadowy and beguiling, lead us through a labyrinth of conjectures. And that foreboding spread of tarot cards? It only deepens the enigma, leaving us ensnared in its mystique.

The subsequent track, “Kronos Devouring,” delves into the chilling lore of Kronos, the titan who consumed his children in a twisted bid to defy fate. This macabre tale not only speaks of a ruler’s descent into madness but also the relentless passage of time. It’s a stark reminder of the dangers of unchecked power and the inevitable spiral into self-destruction. Musically, it’s a slow-burning atmospheric piece, reminiscent of an unreleased sci-fi horror soundtrack from the golden era of the ’80s and ’90s — think Terminator meets Blade Runner.

“Pulling On Circles” is a whirlwind of Industrial EBM, crafting an auditory suspense that pulls listeners into its unsettling core. Ghostly murmurs intertwine with an incessant drone, evoking images of spectral entities whose shrieks and cries crest to the point of resembling a confluence of demons from hell. This sonic collage of haunting sounds is more than just music; it’s a parallel universe, dense with tension and foreboding. It’s a chilling ode to the horror genre, bound to resonate with even the most discerning of aficionados.
