Judas Priest’s New Album Invincible Shield Coming March 8

Judas Priest got everyone extra stoked at Power Trip Festival by announcing their 19th studio album, Invincible Shield.

This will be their first album since 2018’s Firepower and their third with guitarist Richie Faulkner, who took the place of K.K. Downing in 2011. The record will drop March 8, 2024.

Also making waves at Power Trip are AC/DC, who are playing their first show since 2016. Ozzy Osbourne had to drop off the fest and was no longer able to perform yesterday, so Judas Priest stood in instead alongside Iron Maiden and Guns N’ Roses. Metallica and Tool are both playing today.

They had hinted at something big already, clearing all the content from their Instagram and simply posting their logo with a caption that says “TOMORROW.” And since the band had already talked vaguely about new music in the works, the dots were pretty easy to connect. Fans were speculating in the comments that the band would share a new record announcement when they popped up at the fest.

Also exciting, the album comes 50 years after Judas Priest’s first album, Rocka Rolla.

In an interview this June, Faulkner told Anne Erickson of Audio Ink Radio that the band’s new album was “sounding great. I was in Phoenix with (producer and touring guitarist) Andy Sneap and Rob a few weeks ago, putting the vocals down.”

“And it’s always exciting to hear new Priest tracks, because they become Priest tracks when Rob sings them. It’s like, the world hasn’t heard them yet, but there’s new Priest tracks that we’re hearing for the first time. It’s really exciting, hearing that characteristic voice that we’ve heard for decades singing new stuff. It’s an incredibly exciting thing, so I can’t wait for the world to hear it all.”
