Ingested’s New Single “Pantheon” Absolutely Crushes

Death metal outfit Ingested are back again with a new track from their forthcoming LP The Tide Of Death And Fractured Dreams and it’s brutal as fuck. Titled “Pantheon,” the new song is the latest cut off the album that’s due out April 5 via Metal Blade Records.
According to vocalist Jason Evans, the song was based on a little bit of personal introspection and self-doubt that cropped up while playing and hanging with other successful bands like Dying Fetus and Suffocation.
“I wrote ‘Pantheon’ when I was suffering from a heavy bout of imposter syndrome. We’ve done all these big tours with all these huge bands, bands we grew up idolizing, and now we’re rubbing shoulders with giants so to speak. It’s about questioning if you belong, if you’re good enough, am I able to keep up with my peers? Can I fill the shoes of my idols once they are gone? Do I deserve it?”
Listening to the song, it’s wild to think anyone in that band thought they weren’t worthy of attention, because holy shit. The track fucking kicks ass right from the start and doesn’t stop until it’s done.
According to a statement provided by the band, this new record features another tonal shift, as it’s their first new release since COVID fucked everything up.
“Ashes… was constructed in the COVID period, and the mood of that album definitely reflects that time. With The Tide Of Death And Fractured Dreams, we wanted to bring the energy up a bit. As much as we like what we did with Ashes…, its depressive tone isn’t something we wanted to continue to explore quite as much. There are definitely some dark moments on …Tide…, but for the most part, we took a more upbeat approach to the songs this time round.”
Featuring 10 new tracks, this album also boasts guest appearances by Chimaira’s Mark Hunter on the track “In Nothingness” and Sylosis vocalist Josh Middleton who contributes to “Expect To Fail.”
