Furnace Fest 2024 is already being billed as “FF2024: The End of an Era” as the organizers claim this to be the final year of the festival, or at least the final year of the festival as it exists now. There’s a lot of ambiguity over what the future of the fest will look like. For all we know, Furnace Fest 2025 could take place in space. Or in a gas station in Detroit. Or in the Australian Outback. Okay, those are all pretty unlikely possibilities, but they’re possibilities.
So far, the “final” lineup already includes Underoath, Poison the Well, Stretch Armstrong, Shai Hulud, Snapcase, Unearth, Evergreen Terrace, Skycamefalling, and Coalesce. Well, now they’re bringing back two of the most popular bands from FF2021 to do full album plays. Furnace Fest announced on Instagram yesterday that post-hardcore band Emery and hard rock/metal band He is Legend are both doing full album plays of their 2004 debut albums. Emery will be playing The Weak’s End from beginning to end and He is Legend will be performing I Am Hollywood all the way through.
Emery commented on the Instagram post saying “Put us in the shed,” which sounds like something you’d expect to hear from a group of masochists. However, in the case of Furnace Fest, The Shed is one of the fest’s most popular stages with a reputation for having the best pits. No word yet on whether Furnace Fest intends to honor Emery’s request to have their set in The Shed, as the rest of the lineup and the schedule are still yet to be announced. Stay tuned to the Furnace Fest social media accounts to keep up with upcoming announcements.
