With all the shitty news out in the world today, sometimes you just need something feel-good, and Corrosion of Conformity releasing a Lynyrd Skynyrd cover definitely does the trick.
The song in question is “On The Hunt,” and it’s from the album Nuthin’ Fancy, in case you aren’t familiar, out in 1975. It’s the perfect song to showcase COC’s sludgy take on the music and bring the Skynyrd track into the modern day.
Corrosion Of Conformity’s Mike Dean says about the cover:
“This is our hard-to-find tribute to Lynyrd Skynyrd, a major influence of COC. With the recent passing of the great Gary Rossington, the last living original member of Lynyrd Skynyrd, we thought it would be a good time to make this celebration of Skynyrd more widely available.”
You an also catch the band working on new material with Stanton Moore on drums. It’s not clear when this record will be slated for release, but it will eventually come out via Nuclear Blast.
