Babymetal’s Power Level is Back to Full Strength After Adding a New Third Member

Since 2018, Japanese pop metal outfit Babymetal’s been operating down a member. Yuimetal left to go pursue a solo career, leaving the remaining two members to continue without her. That’s all in the past now, as the band announced the addition of a new member, named Momometal.

The new member reveal was made during their show at the Pia Arena MM in Ozazaki, Japan. Prior to joining the group, Momometal (otherwise known as Momoko Okazaki) was one of the three backup dancers for Babymetal, but that’s not to say she doesn’t have experience performing in a group. Okazaki was previously a member of Sakura Gakuin and had competed in the South Korean show Girls Planet 999.

This lineup change came just as the band’s experiencing a bit of a resurgence. After a hiatus, the band announced last year that they had been working on a concept album titled The Other Ones, which would cover their travels to other dimensions of metal. Since that announcement, the album’s been released and they’re now getting ready to hit the road with Saboton later this month. You can check out a list of tour dates below.
