Yikes, This Video Proves Maybe Perry Farrell Should Have Used Backing Tracks…

So we all know how the story panned out for the Jane’s Addiction reunion last month. Shows were announced, they put out a new song, and then everything imploded on September 13 with frontman Perry Farrell getting fucked up and picking a fight with guitarist Dave Navarro. We’ve all seen the videos of Farrell yelling “fuck them!” about his bandmates. It’s ugly.
But man, does it get worse. In a video that goes over that fateful moment, Jane’s Addiction guitar and bass tech Dan Cleary shared the isolated audio coming from Farrell’s mic and… it’s bad. Like, I know I shit on Vince Neil for his half-assed performances, but at least there’s still a sliver of talent and care there. What you hear in the video below is just bad.
It’s almost so bad that I was waiting to see some comedian come out be and like “haha just kidding,” but no. It’s real and it’s fucking terrible.
Farrell, to his credit, has since issued a public apology for what went down. As someone that struggled with addiction in the past, it’s gotta be real shitty to find themselves back in the throes of a relapse that’s international news. Thankfully for his sake, Farrell says he’s working on his mental health following the incident.
Either way, the video (and more importantly the audio) will live on forever. Who knows if there will ever be a return for Jane’s Addiction with Farrell at the front ever again…
