Happy New Year, metalheads! It’s that time of year where we arbitrarily decide it’s time to start over because it’s the day we chose to mark the beginning of another passage around the sun. Lots of bands are making promises about big things to come in the new year. For some bands, that’s likely to mean accusations of misconduct, but for others it’ll mean new music and touring. Danish rockers Volbeat are making some big promises for this year that fans are going to be really excited about.
In a video posted to Instagram yesterday (which was transcribed by Blabbermouth), Volbeat guitarist/vocalist Michael Poulsen gave an update about what the band has planned for the new year, and apparently it involves a new album and a lot of touring:
“The new VOLBEAT record has been recorded. It’s done. It will be out in 2025. You’ll know more information about that early in 2025. Can’t wait.
“There’s a lot of shows being booked for ’25 with VOLBEAT everywhere in the world. Can’t wait to meet you all out there. Who knows? I might even start working on new songs for the next ASINHELL record, my second band. If you don’t have the first record, check it out. Old-school death metal.”
Volbeat’s new record will mark their ninth studio album and their follow up to 2021’s critically acclaimed album Servant of the Mind. The band has yet to announce when any of the upcoming tour dates will actually be. Volbeat’s only live performances in 2024 were a pair of dates opening for Iron Maiden in Sao Paulo, Brazil so they’re more than overdue for a big tour.
