Review: Full of Hell & Primitive Man Team up to Ruin Your Day with Suffocating Hallucination

When it comes to being a collaborative force in the metal scene, both Full of Hell and Primitive Man are known for mixing it up with bands and putting out some killer music. So when it was announced that they were teaming up to put out an absolutely devastating album in Suffocating Hallucination, my excitement was palpable. Out today via Closed Casket Activities, I’m excited to report that this offering is every bit as exciting as I anticipated.

The combination of Primitive Man’s doom and sludge-driven heaviness and Full of Hell’s blasting, grind aggression is exactly what we all dreamed it would be — a raw, sonic attack of fury that truly compliments the individual elements.

Probably my only gripe with this record is that it’s just so heavy and assaulting that it’s not an everyday listener — but that probably goes without saying for anyone familiar with the two bands. The record won’t cheer you up, but it will help you blast through all your aggression.

One of the most bludgeoning tracks on the new album is “Rubble Home,” which you can check out below. The layers of sound in the mix makes that track a banger that stands out above most of the other songs on the album. Another favorite of mine is the last track on the album, “Tunnels to God,” which is so heavy, you’ll feel like you’ve been transported straight down into the underworld.

Overall, fans of either band will not be disappointed with this effort. Just as with their previous collaborations, Suffocating Hallucination is a punishing release that showcases both bands’ unique style while finding a balance that compliments both.

Full Of Hell & Primitive Man’s Suffocating Hallucination is out now via Closed Casket Archives. You can pick up your copy today or check it out on any streaming platform.
