Refused Earn Spot in the Swedish Music Hall of Fame

They may be calling it quits following their recently announced farewell tour, but legendary Swedish band Refused were named to a pretty high honor in their home country, as they’ll be inducted into the Swedish Music Hall of Fame.
The news came from a translated posting online, which read as follows:
“This induction brings the total to 79 artists who have been recognized for their significant contributions to the development of Swedish popular music. The criteria for induction include having a substantial impact on Swedish popular music and having made their debut at least 20 years ago. The Swedish Music Hall of Fame aims to honor the richness of the Swedish musical heritage and bridge the gap between generations. It also seeks to recognize those who have laid the groundwork for Swedish popular music, with the long-term goal of inspiring innovation and development within the industry.”
Making their way into the organization’s 10th induction, the band are joined by other popular Swedish artists: Ace of Base, Lisa Ekdahl, Eldkvarn, José González, Alice Tegnér, and Freddie Wadling — though I suspect Americans will only recognize one of those new inductees, given their popularity in the 90s.
Other artists that made the list over the years include ABBA, Bathory, Entombed, Europe, and Yngwie Malmsteen.
I know this isn’t why Refused got started all those years ago, but it’s gotta be gratifying to be recognized by your country for being absolute badasses over the years. Here’s hoping their final run rules as hard as I think it will…
