When you think of the Baltic country Estonia and its exports, it’s probably unlikely that metalcore would immediately come to mind. Electrical equipment, agricultural products, and wood? Sure. But modern metalcore tunes? Nahhhhh.
Yet earlier today, that’s exactly what we got with the release of Pridian’s latest single “idoldust”. Hailing from Tartu, Estonia, Pridian’s been around since 2018, though they were previously known as ÆØNS when they released their debut album The Rotten Unknown back in 2021. This past September, the band signed with Century Media Records and now they’re putting the final touches on their sophomore, yet as-of-yet unnamed album that’s set for release next spring.
According to the band, “idoldust” is about humanity’s need to look up to something more powerful than them, even though that doesn’t reflect reality.
“‘Idoldust’ is about the human tendency to glorify external symbols of power, without realizing that the monuments and figures are mere reflections of their creators, and that true strength is found within each individual.”
You can check out “idoldust”, as well as their previous single “Near Dark”, below.
