Some dumb fucks are sure to call her an industry plant or outwardly wonder how much I’m getting paid to write about this in the comments, but fuck it — Poppy‘s new record Negative Spaces was announced earlier today. It will be released on November 15 via Sumerian Records.
If you’ve been paying attention at all, you would have noticed the YouTuber turned experimental/electronic/avant-garde/whatever metal musician had been putting out songs like “they’re all around us” and “New Way Out”. She’s also been seen collaborating with bands like Bad Omens and Knocked Loose in recent months. Naturally, all of that was to get people talking about Poppy ahead of the album’s announcement.
Negative Spaces will be her sixth full-length album and her first official release since last year’s Zig. It’s also worth noting that it was produced by ex-Bring Me The Horizon keyboardist Jordan Fish.
News of her new album come after her summer tour supporting Thirty Seconds to Mars came to an end. Though the full tracklist is still unavailable, we’ve got the album cover below. You can catch Poppy live later this fall when she plays Louder Than Life, Aftershock, and the newly resurrected Mayhem Festival.
