Overgrown Man-Child Sebastian Bach Says Rock ‘n’ Roll Makes Him Feel Like a Kid Again

The latest solo album from Sebastian Bach, Child Within the Man, always had a weird title. I’m not even going after the fucked-up sex joke that is right there because it’s just too fucking dark. But, considering that Bach pretty much lost his position in Skid Row due to being an overgrown man-child, you’d think he might want to call less attention to it with his album title. And that’s before we even begin talking about that weird youthed-down picture of Bach on the cover where he looks like Sloth from The Goonies after a makeover.
But, in a recent interview with German outlet EMP (that was transcribed by Blabbermouth) Bach explained that the reasoning behind his album title is simple: rock music makes him feel like a kid again:
“Well, rock and roll makes me feel like a child. [Laughs] Like if I listen to one of my favorite records, like SCORPIONS, nothing brings me back to my childhood more than rock and roll. Rock and roll makes me feel the same way I did when I was a kid.”
When it comes to the physical demands of performing, however, Bach says his body is very aware of its real age:
“[Wacken Open Air] was our 44th show this year. When I started out this year, I was doing all my headbanging, and I fucked my neck up, I paralyzed my back. And I thought I was gonna have to cancel some shows, but I don’t cancel shows. But when I’m on stage and I look at the crowd, I feel like I’m 19 years old; I feel like a little kid. And then I get off stage and my body says, ‘Fuck you. You’re not a fucking little kid, man. What the fuck are you doing?’ But it’s okay. If Mick Jagger can be rocking and rolling at 82, you better get used to me, man, ’cause I’ll be doing it for fucking 40 more fucking years. All right?”
So we have another 40 years of Sebastian Bach to look forward to of the overgrown man-child playing his ex-band’s hits at state fairs. That means we won’t see Bach retire from music until 2064, at which point Skid Row still won’t have taken him back.
But hey, if you want to see a 56-year-old man pretend to be a teenager for a little while, here’s the tour dates where you can catch him:
