We may be a day late, but we’re not a dollar short. Well, I’m several dollars short but that’s a whole other story. Unfortunately, this year’s Mexican Metal Festival has been postponed, but its organizers still tried to offer something to the ticket holders by pulling together a one day fest with some of the acts from the original lineup.
On Saturday, October 12, those with tickets to the original festival were able to attend this new one for free, and/or get a refund. King Diamond and KK’s Priest were set to headline Mexican Metal Fest, along with sets from Napalm Death, Lucifer, Belphegor, and Kataklysm among many others. Of those set to play initially, Napalm Death, Lucifer, Cataclysm and Krisiun still played, with Blood Red Throne, Phantom, Strike Master, Where Never More, and Me vs. Me.
Mexican Metal Fest organizers said “unfavorable circumstances” were the cause, adding how “These causes are alien to the invited artists, as well as to the responsible organization from the making of the festival.” The statements were made via the fest’s social media. Read the statement below, translated into English from Instagram.
KK’s Priest also issued their own statement on the matter:
“Dear Metalheads in Texas and Mexico: With great disappointment, we regret that we’re unable to bring our show to Houston and Monterrey, MX. With the sudden cancellation of the Mexico Metal Fest by the local organisers, we were simply unable to make it. However we will look to reschedule as soon as possible and we’re very much looking forward to seeing you in the near future. Until then thank you for your dedication and loyalty to the band and we will work to bring the metal to you as soon as it’s possible.”
A new date for Mexican Metal Fest has yet to be revealed, but it’ll certainly and obviously be next year.
