Say what you will about the biggest metal band on the planet, but the dudes do a lot of charity work. Having raised and donated funds for a variety of causes over the years, they’ve been a force for good. One way they’ve been giving back has been their annual ‘Helping Hands Concert & Auction’. For the fourth year in a row, they’re hosting another event and while it’s happening in person this Friday at YouTube Theater in Los Angeles, the rest of the world will be able to stream the proceedings on December 19 via YouTube.
The streaming announcement came earlier today, with the band stating that they were excited to let fans virtually attend the event after the fact.
“We can’t wait to hit the stage at YouTube Theater tomorrow night for the ‘Helping Hands Concert & Auction’, and we’re psyched to announce that we’ll be bringing the event to the world less than a week later! So, if you can’t join us in Los Angeles, don’t worry; you’ll be able to watch the show on YouTube beginning December 19 at 12 PM PST / 3 PM EST / 8 PM GMT / 9 PM CET.”
This year’s charity event will not only feature a performance by Metallica, but it will also feature Sammy Hagar, Michael Anthony, Joe Satriani and Kenny Aronoff. SistaStrings, a sisters-turned-classically trained duo named 2023’s “best instrumentalist” by the Americana Music Association, will also be performing this Friday.
Over the last four years, Metallica estimates that its raised roughly $3,000,000 through its annual ‘Helping Hands’ concert and auction, with all of the proceeds going directly to the band’s charity wing, All Within My Hands. For those that don’t know, that charity organization focuses on “supporting workforce education, the fight against hunger, disaster relief and other critical local services.”
