Memphis’ Property Tells the Tale of Liar in his Acerbic Alternative Pop Tune “Kills”

Talk the talk, man. Someone’s gotta draw the line…
In the dim glow of life’s perpetual party, there’s a man who cloaks his struggles in humour and tales of loss. Much like Jay Gatsby, who masked his own heartache behind lavish soirées, this character justifies his existence to the crowd, spinning yarns that serve as both his armour and his Achilles heel. He’s seen as a mere party trick, a passing amusement whose worth lies in the stories he tells.
Despite being labeled a friend, he remains on the periphery, much like Gatsby to the East Eggers, ever the outsider in his own narrative. People pray for his well-being, yet they keep him at arm’s length. When others belittle him, his mood spirals downward, and he seeks solace in fabrications, yearning for a fleeting sense of peace. His laughter and lies are his green light, a distant hope he can never quite grasp, forever illuminating the darker corners of his soul.
The enigmatic artist Property, hailing from Memphis, Tenessee, has released a new single about this unfortunate type of soul, Kills, from his recently released EP PFP. With a sound akin to Xiu Xii and Have A Nice Life, it is an acerbic cautionary tale dripping in noise, fuzz, and distortion, much like the character himself.
“Kills is about a loser,” he explains succinctly.
