Megadeth’s Cover of Judas Priest’s “Delivering the Goods” Now Available Everywhere

Just minutes ago, Megadeth released their cover of Judas Priest‘s “Delivering the Goods” from the 1978 album Killing Machine to all of the major streaming services. Until today, the track was only available to Amazon Music subscribers, but that exclusivity deal has apparently run out and you can now put it in your ear holes.

Last August, it came out that the iconic thrash band had been tapped by Amazon to cover Judas Priest for an upcoming, undisclosed project. At the time, Mustaine said during an interview on BBC’s “The Rock Show with Johnnie Walker” that when they started working on the song it dawned to him just how influential Glenn Tipton in particular had been to his guitar playing.

“I had no idea how much Glenn Tipton and Judas Priest had influenced my guitar playing until I recently covered ‘Delivering The Goods’ with my band Megadeth and got to go over all those guitar riffs again. It was really revealing to me how much Glenn’s playing had influenced me.”

Now, no one in their right mind is going to say that Dave Mustaine sounds like Rob Halford or anything like that, but he sounds good in this track. Hell, the whole thing sounds great since it’s been turned down to meet Mustaine’s vocal range. No more straining for the 61 year-old frontman!

And while it was an Amazon exclusive and was worked on before Judas Priest was officially announced as a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductee, Megadeth said in its release today that the cover had been recorded to “celebrate their induction” into the rock hall last year. Not sure how the timing works out there, but either way it’s a classy gesture.

So go check out the track wherever you get your streaming music, or hit play down below. It’s a pretty good rendition of a classic Judas Priest tune.
