For the first time in years, French metalcore outfit Landmvrks has dropped new music and announced a new album coming out next April. But we didn’t just get one new song, no — two new singles dropped today — “Sulfur” and “Sombre 16”.
Touted as a “powerful one-two punch” on the new record, both singles were released in a singular music video package, which you can check out below. The songs will be featured on the band’s forthcoming studio album The Darkest Place I’ve Ever Been, which is set to be released on April 25.
According to the band, the two songs continue a story that was left wide open from one of their previous releases.
“‘Sulfur’ and ‘Sombre 16’ are two new tracks that continue the story from Creature while also introducing the universe of the new album The Darkest Place That I’ve Ever Been. In these tracks, and this new album we follow a protagonist as he descends deeper and deeper into hell, undergoing both physical and mental transformation.”
And while “Sulfur” certainly has its heavier moments, it also features the band’s more melodic tendencies. As for “Sombre 16,” I got a more Linkin Park feel from it, with vocalist Florent Salfati eschewing his screams for some rapping in French.
The Darkest Place I’ve Ever Been will be the band’s fourth full-length release since their inception back in 2014 and the follow up to their 2021 album Lost In The Waves. As you can hear in the track below, they’re still putting out some heavy hitting metalcore with this one, leaning heavily on the more modern angles that the genre’s taken in recent years.
The Darkest Place I’ve Ever Been will be released on April 25, 2025, but you can preorder your copy today. The band also has a buncha tour dates lined up for February and March, so definitely check out the list of shows below to see if they’ll be hitting a venue near you.
