It’s been a minute since Norwegian black n’ roll/progressive metal outfit Kvelertak dropped a new studio album, but all of that’s about to change this September, as their new album Engling will be available to everyone on September 8.
Described by the band as a “celebration of the intolerable levels of hardships of being in a popular rock band in 2023,” the album apparently continues down the thematic path the band forged in their 2020 release, Splid. Guitarist Vidar Landa said the album will focus on Norwegian past and fables.
“On Endling, we tell the stories of the extinct and dying men and women of Norway. Old and new myths, culture, and rituals come to life — the folklore that doesn’t fit a TV series concept. Vikings and trolls are for television. This is the real deal.”
Along with the new album announcement, the band released the album’s opening track “Krøterveg Te Helvete,” along with an accompanying music video. You can check that out below.
Endling will release on September 8 via Rise Records/Petroleum Records, though you can preorder your copy today.
