Dino Cazares Claims Audience Reaction to New Vocalist Milo Silvestro Has Been: “100 Percent Positive”

Since the departure of Burton C. Bell from Fear Factory and the slow roll out of new vocalist Milo Silvestro, there’s been a lot of questions and doubts surrounding the band’s future. Bell had fronted the band for about 30 years, appearing on 10 different albums, and many fans seem skeptical about the band’s ability to continue on with a new singer. But, if you ask guitarist Dino Cazares, everything is hunky dory and fans love the new incarnation of Fear Factory.
In a recent interview with German outlet MoreCore (that was transcribed by Blabbermouth), Cazares was asked about the reaction to the live performances with Silvestro, and he painted a surprisingly rosy picture of fans’ reactions:
“Well, the funny thing is we missed [what was supposed to be] our first show [with Milo in February 2023]. Because in California we got some really bad snow weather, so we got stuck in the snow. So we missed our first show. And it was really unfortunate because a lot of people from other parts of the world flew in to see him at his first show — people from Holland, people from Germany. So they were very upset. But luckily, we went back and made it up. But we missed our first show. But the reaction has been 100 percent positive ever since.”
The reaction has been 100% positive? Because I can guarantee that our readers’ reaction in the comments section is going to be about 95% negative. Metalheads are never 100% positive about anything.
Somehow, though, Silvestro agreed:
“We were all very thankful to the fans that they accepted this new era, because you don’t take such thing for granted, because you’re replacing a member, a singer in a such iconic band. It’s always almost like a Russian roulette. Dino was, like, when we were doing the audition, ‘Get ready for some backlash,’ and stuff like that. Fortunately, the majority of the fans were, and still are, super happy about it. And I’m so thankful to them.”
So Silvestro and Cazares seem to have rose colored glasses on, because I cannot imagine any major lineup change like this receiving 100 percent support from fans. I understand trying to put a positive spin on things for the press, but this seems like overcompensation.
