Dee Snider Says What We’re All Thinking: ‘Bullsh*t’ Reunion Tours Are Lame as Hell

Dee Snider 2020

In an interview with eonmusic, Twisted Sister vocalist Dee Snider recalled how fans have been pushing for Twisted Sister to reunite even though they officially called it quits years ago. And while the band played a single night for their induction into the Metal Hall of Fame on January 26, the vocalist said it wasn’t an indication that the band was getting back together.

The reason for that declaration? The fact that other bands like Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, and Motley Crue have made promises saying they’d never return and they’d played their last tour, only to reunite and go back on tour a few years later in a move Snider called “bullshit.”

“I’ve said when people retire they should leave the stage. I’m tired of buying ‘No More Tours’ shirts and seeing people signing contracts in blood and then they show up three years later. I don’t believe in that bullshit.”

Bands are a lot like comic book characters in recent years: even when you’re supposed to believe they’re dead and gone, they always find some way to come back. I mean hell, even Motley Crue signed contracts with their own blood and still broke that shit at the first sign of a crazy pay day. At least Snider’s sticking to his convictions.

As for their performance last week, Twisted Sister played a three songs at the awards ceremony: “You Can’t Stop Rock ‘N’ Roll,” “Under the Blade,” and the classic “We’re Not Gonna Take It.” Snider said getting to hit the stage with his former bandmates one more time was a great experience, even if he’s not going to make a habit of it moving forward.

“But you know, it’s fun. I love these guys, and that was one of the best things about reuniting was becoming friends again, and we are friends.”
