CKY’s Chad Ginsburg Says Alien Ant Farm’s Frontman Attacked Him: “Had to Protect Myself”

Over the weekend, some wild drama broke out between two bands that were really popular in the 2000s. No, it wasn’t the TRAPT guy trading blows with Puddle of Mudd’s Wes Scantlin over who can be the biggest loser in music. (Though I’d probably pay to see that carnival of filth go down, let’s be honest.) It was an altercation between CKY frontman Chad I Ginsburg and Alien Ant Farm‘s vocalist Dryden Mitchell that led to the former band’s expulsion from the latter’s European/UK tour.
At the time, all we knew was what Mitchell shared on social media, stating that CKY was booted from the tour because Ginsburg “hasn’t figure out how to cohabitate with others after all these years.” In his statement, Dryden also said Ginsburg had been seen treating “multiple crew members and opening band members like trash through the Europe shows”.
After approaching CKY’s manager what was going on, Dryden said Ginsburg punched him in the face before running away. He said he was thankful that he was sober now, since he didn’t think engaging in a fistfight would have solved anything.
Well, it turns out that Ginsburg has gone online and shared his recollection of what went down. And as you can guess, he says it was Dryden that started everything.
“Nothing wrong with defending yourself from a bad guy. If you are attacked or feel truly threatened, have no fear and stop the threat however you can.
“I had to protect myself. It was a split second reaction to a very angry guy muttering then yelling #*%! at me from 10ft away charging at ME ,into my personal space ! Coming at me. He was attacking me! , I felt a physical threat and had I not tried to avoid the attack, I would have been assaulted . for fucks sake.
“I could say so much more. But situation sucks for all!
“I’d like to stop. Rather not get all into all. It’s no one’s biz. This is not news. . as unfortunate as the situation is all together.”
Some other drama happened in Instagram stories, with Ginsburg sharing some social media posts that Dryden made years ago that had racist and anti-Semitic remarks, asking “this you?”
I’m sure this mess isn’t going to get clean anytime soon, that’s for sure. Here are the rest of Alien Ant Farm’s shows, sans CKY:
