Barcelona Post-Punk Heroes Belgrado Debut Stunning and Surreal Video for “Nie Zapomnę”

Posted on 08/04/2023 By

Behold the grandeur of Barcelona’s Belgrado as they present to you their second single, “Nie Zapomnę,” hot off the presses from their forthcoming full-length “Intra Apogeum.” Collaborating once again with former bassist Renzo André, as director, the band delivers a hauntingly hypnotic visual treat in the single’s accompanying music video.

The bewitching vocals, sung in the enigmatic Polish language by Patrycja Proniewska (also of Fatamorgana), carry the listener on a journey through a coldwave track reminiscent of the sound of Xmal Deutschland. With this release (and February’s offering “Boixar”), Belgrado has metamorphosed into an avant-garde post-punk extravaganza that transcends genres and time.

While lyrics to “Nie Zapomnę” contemplate one’s own voyage through the corridors of memory, the visual aspect takes cues from the daring aesthetics of the New Romantics movement, and the sensuous imagery of the 1969 film “The Colour of Pomegranates” – all seasoned with a pinch of David Bowie’s iconic “Ashes To Ashes” video.

Barcelona-based but with a Venezuelan, Polish, and British membership, Belgrado burst onto the scene in 2010, touring the world over multiple times and delivering three LPs. The band are planning live shows all over Europe and Latin America this year to support the release of their album. Belgrado has already made an appearance at this year’s Grauzone Festival.
